Solanum
This perennial bushy shrub is living up to 10 years and has twiggy branches that carry small, dark green leaves and insignificant star-shaped flowers that bloom in summer. The attractive shallowly trumpet-shaped fragrant golden-centered blue-violet blooms give way to showy red berries, also is poisonous, and therefore inedible.

Sunlight:Â Place solanum in direct sunlight indoors throughout the fruiting period
Soil:Â Needed well-drained sandy soil enriched with lots of organic material.
Watering:Â Water plentifully as often as necessary to keep the potting mixture thoroughly moist, but never let the pots stand in water.
Fertilizer:Â Apply standard liquid fertilizer once every two weeks, except during the brief rest period.
Temperature: During the autumn and winter months keep these plants at a temperature no higher than about 15°C (59°F)
Pruning:Â It should be pruned regularly to maintain a pleasing shape. Prune after each of its flower flushes to tidy the plant and encourage more blooms
